| • | KDF Filters remove contaminants from running hot water (unlike carbon filters where hot water can release trapped contaminants into the water stream), which makes them ideal for showering and bathing. |
| • | Effective removal of chlorine, actually changing the free chlorine some people are allergic to into a less active, easier tolerated form of chlorine. |
| • | KDF Filters remove fungi and algae and control bacterial growth inside the filter. |
| • | These water filters remove cadmium, aluminum, hydrogen sulfide, iron, arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury and other inorganic compounds. |
| • | KDF process media are a better choice than water softeners (deionizers) if the water hardness is within 15 ppg. |
Disadvantages of KDF Filters:
| • | KDF Water Filter Systems do not remove fluoride. |
| • | KDF process media don’t remove organic contaminants and chemicals like disinfection by-products, MTBE, pesticides, or parasitic cysts like giardia and cryptosporidium. Other filtration systems have to be combined with KDF process media in terms of removal of organic contaminants. |
| • | KDF Filter Systems are quite expensive compared to other Water Filtration and Purification Systems. |
| • | KDF Filters are most effective when combined with other filtration technologies (e.g. Granular Activated Carbon Filters) for full spectrum of protection. |
